Longitude
Text Message Consent
Longitude sends text messages only to patients who have asked for them, and only about care they are already enrolled in — reminders for scheduled coaching and clinical calls, and notices that something new is waiting in their patient portal.
We never send marketing by text. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers with anyone for their own messaging, and consent to texts is never a condition of purchase or of care.
How a patient opts in
Opting in happens inside the patient portal, on the account page, after signing in. It takes two deliberate steps, and the first one is not consent.
Choosing Text message as a reminder channel only records a preference. Nothing is sent on the strength of that choice. A separate card then appears showing the full disclosure, and the patient must press Confirm text messages before we may text them at all.
Each confirmation is recorded with the exact wording the patient was shown and the mobile number they agreed to. If that number later changes, the earlier agreement no longer covers it and we ask again rather than texting the new number.

The disclosure patients agree to
This is the exact wording shown on that screen:
By turning on text messages, you agree to receive care-related text messages from Longitude CARE at the mobile number on your account. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase or of care.
A typical message reads:
Longitude CARE: you have a new update in your portal. https://portal.longitude.care Reply STOP to opt out.
Messages deliberately carry no medical detail — no medication names, no results, no diagnoses — because a text can be read on a lock screen or a shared phone. The message says only that something is waiting, and the portal requires a sign-in.
Stopping messages
Reply STOP to any message and texting to that number stops. It is honoured for every patient who shares that phone, not only the person who sent it, and it applies even if we do not recognise the number.
Reply START from the same phone to turn texting back on. Reply HELP for help.
Turning texts off never affects care. Anything we would have sent by text reaches the patient by email and is always in the portal. Reminder preferences can also be changed at any time from the account page.
